Emmy Watt

Emmy Watt set up ‘The Collage Company’ in 2010 after finding a gap in the digital photographic market. Instead of creating photo books, which end up on the shelf along with long-forgotten photo albums, they wanted to find a way of getting all your favourite photos out on show and still produce a quality product. Taking their marketing and design experience they have taken the traditional collage idea into the 21st century...

Just had to share a couple if images from the amazing Goodwood Festival of Speed which I dropped in on a couple of weeks ago - click here to view!

Held at the beautiful Goodwood estate near Chichester, this is a four day extravaganza of cars, bikes and aeroplanes of every shape and size and is billed as the largest motoring garden party in the world. Although it is worth getting there pretty early to avoid the entrance queues (it took me 40 minutes to enter the car park and then it is some walk!....), it is a great day out and appeals to petrol heads and families alike. Really recommend you check it out next year - the dates will be on the website in the next month apparently.

Have you ever considered the fact that you are either a hat person or not a hat person?!

There are obviously those who wear some form of apparel on their bonce at every given opportunity, and others, like me, who avoid it at all costs! My aversion to hats of any sort stems mainly from having a head that is smaller than that of most two year olds, (hence the choice of good hats is limited to say the least!) - and also from a terror of ‘flat hat hair’.

Whilst I may not love hats personally, I definitely loved the amazing array spotted the other weekend at the wonderful Larmer Tree Festival held near Salisbury, Wilts. Every sort of hat imaginable - and more! - could be spotted over the weekend:

See this one ....and this..and what about this?!

Anything and Everything? You can have it all.  Can you collage food? I think so!

b2ap3_thumbnail_sushi.jpgI was eating my supper the other night whilst starting to type this blog and I wasn’t sure what I was going to write about. As I looked at my food it suddenly dawned on me that a collage is anything and everything and that is why they are so wonderful. Let me explain.

I had a quiet evening to myself and so had decadently bought myself my favourite supper of sashimi, seaweed salad, soya beans and other japanese nibbles. I was brought up in Japan as a child and adore their food. Looking down at my collection of small plates of food I realised my supper was a sort of collage on a tray. Little bits of this and that, that come together to make something rather wonderful.

The true definition of collage is “a form of art in which various materials such as photographs and pieces of paper or fabric are arranged and stuck to a backing”. Well my food wasn’t exactly stuck to the tray, and I am replacing fabric and paper with fish and vegetables but it started me thinking about what it is about a collage that is so intriguing.

We had a great time at the Bowood House Charity Dog Show and Summer Fair last weekend.

Emmy met lots of new faces, many of the canine variety who seemed to enjoy our collages (or maybe it was the cool of the tent!)

b2ap3_thumbnail_bowood-therese-the-camel.jpgShe also caught sight of Lady Chichester’s Bactrian camel - Therese.  Raised in Hampshire this Mongolian camel was seen striding out with her new beau - Temujin a nine year old Russian camel who wooed and won Therese’s heart.

b2ap3_thumbnail_coll.jpgHere is just a little collage of some of the four footed friends we made!

We are off to Blenheim Palace Flower Show  this weekend - a three day flower and garden show from 21st to 23rd June - see you there.

b2ap3_thumbnail_badminton.jpgBadminton Horse Trials was the first of our fairs this year.  Braving the rain and bitter cold Emmy trekked off to Gloucestershire at the beginning of May in a horse box loaded with collages, food for the five day trip and a few bottles of wine for sustenance!
